New York State education leaders have unveiled a five-year plan for changing high school graduation requirements. The State Ed Department and a Blue-Ribbon Commission are changing the path to a high school diploma within the next few years, with students having multiple ways to reach that milestone.
Required courses in financial literacy and climate education are among the changes set to take effect in two years. State education leaders say they’re hopeful the new graduation standards will better prepare students to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
