Now it is in Montreal that artistic director Vincent Bélanger decided to create “Les 9″ , a group of 8 young Canadian cellists and a double bassist, assembled as a unique combination of exceptional talents and virtuosity.
This September 8th , get ready to enjoy a joyful concert at La Maison Symphonique:
“Les 9 de Montreal” are proud to present their latest album , Consonance: Discover the euphonious sound of the cello through the group’s unique adaptations of Ravel’s Bolero, Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and many more classical favorites!
The group will be interpreting pieces from their latest album as well as a few pieces from their previous album which includes the notorious and fiery Tango ‘’por una cabesa’’!
According to Vincent Bélanger, Music Director of Les 9, the group chooses repertoire that is both original and universally appealing.
Ageless classics are revisited or adapted, along with whimsical modern music or original compositions. The various themes address contemporary issues that concern us all, with the intent to reach new audiences: “The power of projecting ourselves beyond what divides us.” says Bélanger.

The concert will also feature a guest appearance of Chinese-Canadian soprano Lirong Dong, who together with Les 9, will perform a new version of a piece from her latest collaboration with Vincent Bélanger: Tout est dit.
