Despite the tensions between the U.S. and Canada, there are still Canadian companies that are crossing the border & looking to do business here in Northern New York. Motion Composites, from Quebec, builds lightweight, high performance wheelchairs. They have opened their first facility in the United States, in Plattsburgh in the Air Industrial Park.
The company says the move to Plattsburgh was to focus on customers from the U.S. and to have more space for production. The company is looking to expand production to about 12-thousand wheelchairs a year. Motion Composites currently has hired 15 employees but is hopeful it may grow that number to 25 in the near future.
