The new year begins a new era at City Hall in Plattsburgh. We sit down with the City’s new Mayor, Chris Rosenquest, and Town Supervisor Michael Cashman, for an in-depth discussion about some of the major issues facing the City and Town in the coming year, including the legal disputes they hope to resolve to improve relations.
In the lead up to his taking office, Chris Rosenquest had been critical of a revised 2021 budget proposal for the new year, that would have cut the tax rate by nearly 15%, and 900-thousand dollars from the City’s public safety departments. Since we taped our sit-down with the new Mayor two weeks ago, the City Council passed a budget that eliminated the cuts for the police and fire departments and scaled the tax cut back to about 2%.
