Court Battle Over Snowmobile Trail

New York State plans to appeal a court decision that has halted work on a network of snowmobile trails in the Adirondacks. Last month, an appeals court ruled in favor of the environmental group known as Protect the Adirondacks, which has argued building the trails would cut too many trees in the Adirondack Park.

The State has been working for years to build the “community-connector” trails, which would hook up with other trails in the Park, and many hope, provide an economic boost to several small, rural communities in the Central Adirondacks.
