WOW : World of Words by Kalabanté

A radiant celebration of movement, music and meaning, WOW: World of Words by Kalabanté was quite exhilarating.

Presented at La TOHU from March 26-29th 2026 , this vibrant production transformed the stage into a tableau of culture, connection and breathtaking artistry.

The minute the first performer stepped into the crowd, bare chested, and singing a soulful song, the audience was swept into a world where gravity seems optional.

The subsequent aerial and ground sequences were thrilling as well as fluid. The acrobatics were executed with astonishing precision, and the human pyramid stood as a powerful symbol of unity and trust.

Each moment felt truly alive with intention, yet there was also a playful touch of humor that brought warmth and accessibility to the spectacle.

Under the inspired direction of Yamoussa Bangoura, Kalabanté delivered a show that was both deeply rooted in tradition and boldly contemporary, drawing richly on West African cultural traditions, music and movement that reflect Bangoura’s Guinean origins.

The performers moved seamlessly between disciplines: blending percussion, dance and circus arts into a rich and immersive experience.

The visual language was striking, with suspended hammocks, acrobatic props, hay strewn all over the stage and rhythmic movement creating a true feast for the senses.

What truly sets WOW: World of Words apart was its emotional resonance.

Through its exploration of knowledge sharing, cultural encounters and mutual respect, the show transcends entertainment to become a poetic statement about humanity.

The symbolic figures and the gradual erasure of division on stage offered a moving reflection on unity in a fragmented world.

Hosting this production, La TOHU once again proves why it stands at the heart of circus arts in North America.

Not only it stands as a cultural beacon where creativity, sustainability and community converge, but it’s unique circular hall enhances the intimacy and intensity of the performance, allowing audiences to feel fully immersed in every leap, rhythm and gesture.

Dynamic, colorful and profoundly uplifting, WOW: World of Words by Kalabanté earns by far every bit of its acclaim.

It is a jubilant reminder of the power of live performance to inspire awe and bring people together.

One word truly says it all: WOW
