World Press Photo Montreal Exhibition Returns at Bonsecours Market for 2025

The power of images that shape our understanding of the world returns to Montreal this summer.

From August 27 to October 13, 2025, the World Press Photo Montreal Exhibition will once again transform the historic Bonsecours Market into a hub for photojournalism, showcasing the most striking and thought-provoking photographs of the year.

📍 Bonsecours Market
350 St-Paul Street East, Old Montreal, QC H2Y 1H2

This year’s edition holds special meaning as World Press Photo celebrates its 70th anniversary. The exhibition not only highlights the best in visual storytelling from across the globe but also places today’s pressing issues into historical perspective, showing how photojournalism continues to challenge, inspire, and spark dialogue.

The 2025 contest drew 59,320 entries from 3,778 photographers in 141 countries, with winners selected across six global regions. Audiences will encounter powerful themes such as politics, migration, gender, conflict, and the climate crisis. From images of protests in Kenya and Myanmar to portraits of power in the United States and Germany, the stories on display reveal both the fragility and vitality of our shared humanity.

Quebec’s own Charles-Frédérick Ouellet, winner of the 2024 North America region with his series A Day in the Life of a Quebec Fire Crew, returned this year as a jury member for North and Central America.

His voice added a local dimension to the global dialogue, helping select images that, in his words, act as “an X-ray of our species… revealing what we often choose to ignore.”

Presented in partnership with Radio-Canada, La Presse, and SDC Vieux-Montréal, the Montreal exhibition is one of the most visited in the world and will also feature related exhibitions highlighting the creativity of local talent.
