Montreal based I Medici di McGill orchestra launches its new Médecins musiciens season, where medical dedication meets musical passion.

When music and medicine intertwine, they have the power to heal not only the body, but the soul.
This November, I Medici di McGill Orchestra opens its Médecins musiciens series with L’âme du violon : a concert dedicated to the art of compassion, featuring an ensemble of physicians and medical students who carry both stethoscopes and instruments with equal grace.

At the heart of the program stands violinist and final-year medical student Émilie Auclair (MD 2026), whose performance of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor promises to be an inspiring reflection of her dual devotion to music and medicine. Guided by Maestra Lori Antounian, the concert will unfold through a journey of emotion and humanity, from Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, to a world premiere by composer and oboist Jay DeGasperis, and finally Haydn’s London Symphony.

COMPOSER & OBOIST
This performance serves as a benefit for the Intensive Care Unit Bridge Program (ICUBP) — an initiative that brings comfort, connection, and compassion to patients and families in four major Montreal hospitals: the Montreal General, Royal Victoria, Jewish General, and Montreal Chest Institute.

Through the ICUBP, university volunteers bridge the gap between clinical care and human empathy. They sit with patients who have no visitors, offer words of comfort to anxious families, and shadow physicians in moments that reveal the fragility and strength of life.
Their presence reminds us that healing extends beyond medical intervention and it is also found in the simple act of listening, of caring, of being there.
Every ticket and every donation for L’âme du violon directly supports these efforts thus helping provide patients with books, tablets, and personal items that make the ICU experience a little more humane. It is music, transformed into tangible kindness.
Therefore, on Saturday, November 8th, let the sound of the violin speak for those who cannot, and let every note echo with empathy.
Join I Medici di McGill for an afternoon where passion meets purpose, and where the healing power of music reaches our hearts.
