A tribute this week to the volunteers who have helped Plattsburgh mark its historic place in the making of our nation with its yearly Battle of Plattsburgh commemoration. This year’s commemoration included a dedication ceremony to the event’s many volunteers. The City has named the walkway that crosses the lower Saranac River Commemoration Bridge. It honors the community volunteers who have organized the Battle of Plattsburgh commemorations through the years including long-time volunteers Kit Booth and Gary VanCour. The 2019 Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration continues this weekend with the parade on Saturday at 1pm, and a concert by the U.S. Navy Band Northeast at 7pm on Sunday.
