Businesses usually gather every February to hear political leaders outline their visions and priorities for the year. With the pandemic, the North Country Chamber of Commerce hosted their State of the County, City, and Town forum online this year, and a lot of the focus was on the impact COVID-19 is having on the region.
The Chair of the Clinton County Legislature, Mark Henry, is hopeful the Northern Border can reopen soon, so that Canadians can, once again, fly out of Plattsburgh. Their ticket fees help the County pay the debt on the 55-million-dollar expansion of the airport terminal. Town Supervisor Michael Cashman said the Town of Plattsburgh continues to grow, with plans for new housing, and several new businesses opening during the past year, despite the pandemic. And Plattsburgh’s new mayor, Chris Rosenquest talked about developing plans for City Beach, and the Harborside section of the City’s downtown on the lakefront.
