Veterans and volunteers work to restore Crab Island memorials and burial grounds

Our colleague Matt Ryan from New York NOW takes us to Crab Island on Lake Champlain where American and British sailors and soldiers killed in the Battle of Plattsburgh are buried in mass graves, and thanks to some dedicated volunteers, remembered. Matt profiles veterans and volunteers who have worked to restore the island, memorials, and burial grounds located there.

We also talk with Plattsburgh Town Supervisor Michael Cashman about those veterans and volunteers working to honor the servicemen buried on Crab Island. They are also teaming up with the Town of Plattsburgh and Clinton County American Legion in the planning of a new military park on the shore of Lake Champlain near Crab Island. Michael Cashman also talks about new development in the Town of Plattsburgh including plans to develop the former Clinton County Airport into a new tech park. He also talks about the on-going legal dispute between the Town, and City of Plattsburgh, over the former Falcon Seaboard co-generation power plant.
