John Bernardi on Childcare, Transportation & Financial Literacy

The United Way of the Adirondack Region’s President and CEO John Bernardi joins us to tell us how the United Way is helping to find families living in rural communities in Northern New York access to affordable childcare, as well as safe and reliable transportation. He also discusses new financial literacy programs and services that the United Way and its partners are offering to help families living with financial insecurity.

Day of Caring

The United Way of the Adirondack Region will hold its annual Day of Caring on Saturday, April 25, 2026 

DAY OF CARING is one of the region’s largest volunteer events. Volunteers can participate in community projects across seven counties, including yard work for the elderly, food drives, and nonprofit support.

  • Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026.
  • Goal: To connect community members with volunteer opportunities, including painting, cleaning, and assisting with tasks that enhance the local area.
