Two of the smallest schools in the North Country have shared sports teams for the past few years. Next week voters will decide whether to move ahead with a plan to merge their school districts. Westport and Elizabethtown-Lewis each have about 200 students K-12, and face declining enrollment, finances & programs. At community meetings, townspeople & members of a committee that have studied a merger for more than a year have discussed the pros and cons of combining their schools. If approved by voters in straw polls October 9th, a merger vote will be held in December.
