Political leaders in Plattsburgh are raising new concerns this week about the condition of roads & infrastructure at the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base. Town Supervisor Michael Cashman is sounding the alarm, pointing to sinkholes and sections of pavement that are collapsing. Cashman says the problem has gotten worse over the past couple of years and that he has repeatedly asked for federal assistance to deal with it.
Now, he’s appealing to the state’s congressional delegation for help. When asked about it during her stop in Saranac Lake this week, Senator Gillibrand said she was aware of the infrastructure issues on the former base and working to find resources to fix them.
