“Tour De Force Charity Run” Honors State Trooper and Corrections Officer

Nearly 300 runners and walkers turned out last August to take part in the Tour De Force Charity Run held at Point Au Roche. The Charity run is dedicated to police and corrections officers killed in the line of duty. This year’s run, the 5th annual Tour De Force Charity Run, is being held next Sunday, August 18th at Mooney Bay Marina in Point Au Roche.

The race this year honors New York State Police Trooper Nicholas Clark, who was shot and killed in the line of duty last summer near Corning, New York, and to Department of Corrections Sgt. Edward Cunningham, who was killed in the Attica Prison Riot in 1971, and two NYC Patrolmen, Waverly Jones and Joseph Piagentini, who were killed in Harlem in 1971.

This week, we sat down with the race organizer, Tom Brown, who recently retired after a 35-year career working in corrections.

Runners and walkers can still sign up for the race/walk on in person from 6-7:30am August 18th, or online through August 14th:
