Tornado Touches Down in Beekmantown

A confirmed tornado touched along about a half mile stretch of Route 22 in Beekmantown Tuesday afternoon. Peru firefighter & CVPH paramedic John Stafford captured the funnel cloud on his dash cam, including the moment winds that were whipping up to 75 miles per hour flung a trampoline into the air. The National Weather Service says the tornado uprooted several trees and ripped a roof off a home on Route 22.
The National Weather Service dispatched a team to survey the damage and said it was an E-F 0 Tornado that touched down for about 2 minutes. It happened just a short distance from Beekmantown Central School about an hour after school had let out for the day. Luckily, no one was hurt.
