Time to Change: Lake Placid Center for the Arts

After five decades of serving the public with performances and art exhibits, administrators at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts call proposed upgrades to the theater building “essential.”

The building housing the theater, gallery and education spaces will undergo a complete renovation beginning this year.  With this in mind, the current show in the gallery ponders the concept of metamorphosis.   More than 50 artists from nine eastern New York counties have contributed works to a juried show you might find transformative.

Spotlight producer Paul Larson spoke with the artists and administrators about the inspiration behind the “Metamorphosis” exhibit.

You have until March 1st to see the paintings and sculptures of “Metamorphosis” at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts.  The gallery is open Thursday through Saturday, from 1 – 5 pm.

As for the renovation, construction is planned for this fall, with a grand reopening set for the summer of 2027.

Programs for the public will continue during the renovation. Head to lakeplacidarts.org to learn more about classes and shows.
