We told you last week about the nurse from here in the North Country who answered the Governor’s call to respond to the epicenter of the pandemic, working on the front lines at a NYC hospital and treating thousands of COVID-19 patients. Christina Perry shared a video that shows the outpouring of support that has become a nightly tribute to all the healthcare workers, and essential workers who are the heroes helping us through this crisis. People line the streets, every night at 7, cheering for the healthcare workers during shift change, banging on pots and pans from apartment windows and balconies in the neighborhoods that surround the hospitals. It is a show of appreciation that has inspired people across the country, including the pastor of a community church in the small hamlet of Bolton Landing on Lake George. Pastor Scotty Matthews and his twin boys, have taken turns ringing the 1825 bell in the tower of the Bolton Community Church every night over the past several weeks. Pastor Matthews says other churches, in Lake George, Glens Falls, and Greenwich are now ringing their church bells too, every night. He’s hopeful even more churches may join in.
