The Lake Placid Center for the Arts Offering Free Performance Series This August

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is bringing back the “Free Young & Fun Performance Series” — virtually!

When COVID-19 forced LPCA to close their doors for the summer, at first it seemed the “Young & Summer Fun” series would not go on. Fortunately, two of the artists were able to rework their performances for the virtual world.

The new, online series will be called “Young & Fun Anywhere.” It will continue LPCA’s important mission of bringing performances of all kinds to the Lake Placid community and beyond, only now, it will be over Zoom! Audience members will be able to watch from anywhere: their computer, tablet, or phone. You just have to have access to the internet.

The 2020 “Young & Fun Anywhere” Performance Series includes:

Gary the Great | Wednesday, August 12, 10:30 a.m.

Join magician Gary the Great for a high-energy blast of magic, comedy, and juggling. This highly improvised show has tons of audience participation and includes mind-blowing magic for all ages. You never know what’s going to happen in this show, and that’s what makes it so uniquely special.

Pirate School! | Wednesday, August 19, 10:30 a.m.

Pirate School! is a madcap, swashbuckling solo show created and performed by veteran New York actor David Engel. This riotous, interactive pirate escapade satisfies children’s universal curiosity for the briny buccaneers of yore, while promoting everyday polite behavior and social-courage.

Online registration is required for both performances in order to receive a link to enter the performance on Zoom. There is a suggested $10 donation per log-in (per family).

Audiences are invited to visit www.lakeplacidarts.org to browse Virtual Experiences and learn more about the latest “Young & Fun Anywhere” performances.
