A couple of Santa’s helpers known for fixing up old bikes and giving them away, for free, to kids and other people in need in the Plattsburgh & Elizabethtown areas, have opened a new shop just in time for the holidays. Gene Provencher says they are enjoying the improved lighting and extra room in their new shop on Oak Street in the City of Plattsburgh. Gene, and his partner Dick Jenkins, who are known as The Bike Guys, used to operate out of the Champlain Valley Transportation Museum on the old base, but after that building’s closure The Plattsburgh Housing Authority helped find them a new shop.
The Bike Guys can be found at 39 Oak Street. They are open from 8am-11am, Monday through Friday.
