Mountain Lake PBS is proud to present the Beyond the Peaks Student Film Festival during the 2022-23 school year. Formerly a project of AdkAction, the film festival celebrates its 4th year showcasing student creativity and talent from across the region.
Teachers and students alike will learn the ins and outs of film-making while empowering youth across the region and beyond to create their own films. Provided through this FREE program, the Skills21 Launchpad platform allows students access to film-making tutorials and the ability to easily submit their work in a variety of categories.
High school students in NY, VT, or QC are eligible to enter. Student submissions are due by April 30th with winners announced at an end-of-school year Red Carpet Showcase. The top three winners will receive a cash prize and video supplies!
Keep up-to-date with information on student registration, professional development opportunities, and more with our Beyond the Peaks newsletter. And learn more about the film festival on our Beyond the Peaks homepage.

Film Festival History
The Beyond the Peaks Student Film Festival began in 2019, launched by AdkAction together with Tupper Lake Central School District aiming to expand opportunities for local youth interested in digital storytelling. The festival was named for the Adirondack area students reaching “Beyond the Peaks.”
Moving into the 2022-23 school year, AdkAction sought out a trusted partner to continue this work. Mountain Lake PBS is proud to carry on the tradition as the new home for the Beyond the Peaks Student Film Festival. We are excited to support filmmaking and digital storytelling—underrepresented artforms in our rural communities—while amplifying youth voices and creativity.
