The APA was a wild idea to oversee 6-million acres of public and private land in the Adirondack Park. This week we meet the author whose decades of research and interviews tell the story of the environmental and political battles that led to APA’s creation 50 years ago this summer.
To commemorate the APA’s 50th anniversary, Adirondack Experience brought together prominent historians, environmentalists, and community leaders from across the Adirondacks for a daylong symposium held in June, that you can watch online. Adirondack Experience is also collaborating with scholars to develop and launch an online exhibition this fall. And we at Mountain Lake PBS have teamed up with the Adirondack Experience and filmmaker Paul Frederick to produce a one-hour documentary premiering in late October that will highlight the birth of the APA that for 50 years has shaped the Adirondack Park.
