Stefanik Seeking Sixth Term

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik talks about her re-election campaign and some of the top issues in this important upcoming election. This week we’re spending a few minutes with the Congresswoman who is seeking a 6th term in the U-S House.

Ms. Stefanik is now the 4th highest ranking Republican in the House of Representatives and a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump. She was on the short list of candidates to be Mr. Trump’s running mate, and she delivered a prime-time speech on his behalf at the Republican National Convention this summer.

She spent a few minutes with our colleagues from WCAX Television this past week, and they were kind enough to let us share some of that interview. Reporter Alek LaShomb asked the Congresswoman why voters in the 21st District should send her back to Washington for another term, and about some of the major issues in this year’s election, including border security and immigration and the influx of migrants crossing the Northern Border in the past year. The Congresswoman says it’s important to keep the Northern Border open, but says the U.S. and Canada need to do more to stop the influx of illegal migrants crossing the border.

Ms. Stefanik also was asked about her position on reproductive rights, gun rights, addressing health care costs and needs in rural areas like the North Country, and the suspension of Amtrak’s service through the North Country to Montreal for the past 2 summers. The Congresswoman also talked about veterans benefits and care, as well as her commitment to Fort Drum and the North Country’s military community.

Congresswoman Stefanik is being challenged by Democrat Paula Collins. We sat down with Paula Collins a few weeks ago, and you can watch that interview on our website and YouTube Channel.
