Tonight , in a spectacular evening of music, young and talented singer-songwriter Josh Alexander took to the stage of Montreal’s Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier as the opening act for the internationally acclaimed French singer ZAZ during her Quebec tour.
Although he might not have been officially introduced to the Quebec public yet, Josh made a grand entrance on one of the most prestigious stages in the city with his opening performances for ZAZ, as part of her worldwide Organique Tour.
With promising beginnings that stem from his journey on the fifth season of “La Voix,” where he advanced to the duels stage, Josh’s talent and artistry have been undeniable. His musical journey caught the attention of the production and management company Blü Dog Media, leading to his first contract. In a testament to his growing prominence, he was honored with the title of iHeart Radio Future Star in February 2020.
A gifted songwriter and performer, the young artist is passionate about the cinematic pop universe and has developed his unique musical writing in English. Born to an American mother and Salvadoran father, he proudly represents his French-speaking Quebec heritage while expressing his artistry in the English language. He’s already made a mark with his original song “Not Alone” for the film “La course des tuques,” a production distributed in over 200 countries. His duet with Corneille on the song “Je serai là” is featured on the French-language soundtrack of the same film.
His most recent contribution to a film soundtrack has garnered even more attention, as two of his compositions are featured on the soundtrack of the film “La Légende du Papillon/Butterfly Tale,” alongside performances by renowned artists like Patrice Michaud, Cœur de Pirate, La Zarra, Johnny Orlando, and Shawn Mendes. The film is set to hit Canadian theaters on October 13 and later in the United States. Continuing his prolific journey, he has also contributed three songs to Jeanick Fournier’s latest album.
The golden opportunity to open for ZAZ is a testament to Josh’s incredible talent and the success he has achieved. After being introduced to his work, ZAZ was moved to offer him the opening slots for her shows in Quebec. This collaboration was a logical continuation of his meteoric rise in the music scene, particularly after his debut EP “Forevermore” and his single “Hurricane” reached the 36th position on the ADISQ radio chart, with over 500,000 listens, in the fall of 2022.
As Josh Alexander took the stage before the captivating ZAZ, the audience was treated to a short but energetic performance that showcased the depth and breadth of his talent.
