Season 2023 of the Francophonie Orchestra: A Triumphant Return Filled with Virtuosity and Passion!

With great pride, the Francophonie Orchestra (FO) announces its highly anticipated return to the symphonic stage under the direction of its co-founder, artistic director, and principal conductor, Jean-Philippe Tremblay.

Embracing its educational mission of excellence, the FO presents a repertoire befitting the virtuosity of its talented young musicians with a series of four magnificent concerts in July.

Comprising 71 musicians aged 18 to 30 from 11 countries (Canada, United States, Mexico, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Switzerland, and Colombia), the orchestra will captivate audiences at the Raoul-Jobin Hall in the Palais Montcalm in Quebec City, followed by performances at the Maison symphonique and the Pierre-Mercure Hall in Montreal.

To mark this comeback, the FO is pleased to welcome, for his first appearance in Canada, the young violinist Giovanni Andrea Zanon, a true rising star.

Zanon will perform on July 12 at the Palais Montcalm and on July 14 at the Maison Symphonique, showcasing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Opus 64. The program in Quebec City will also feature Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 1 in E minor, along with works by Simon Bertrand and Lili Boulanger.
