Revolutionary War Anniversary at Fort Ticonderoga

Almost to exact day and hour, reenactors recreated one of the most historic moments in the early days of the Revolutionary War when Ethan Allen & the Green Mountain Boys & Benedict Arnold raided & captured Fort Ticonderoga from British troops in the middle of that night in May, 1775, 250 years ago, in what was the first victory for the Americans in the Revolutionary War.

Fort Ticonderoga welcomed some dignitaries to mark the anniversary, including New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, and Rosie Rios, who is the Chair of America 250, which is the national commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and birth of our nation, being celebrated in July of next year.

Along with that reenactment over the weekend, that you can watch on Fort Ticonderoga’s YouTube channel, there was also a fly-over of F-35 Fighter Jets by the Green Mountain Boys of the present day with the Vermont Air National Guard.
