Mountain Lake PBS is excited to announce an extension to the annual “Beyond the Peaks Student Film Festival”, as well as an increase in prize levels for budding filmmakers across the region!
To ensure all aspiring student filmmakers have a chance to participate, the deadline for submissions has been extended to May 14, 2024.
Moreover, thanks to a generous donation from ComPro Scholarship, prize levels for this year’s festival have been boosted. First prize now stands at $1250, second prize at $750, and third prize at $500.
In its fifth year, Beyond the Peaks remains a platform for nurturing creativity and showcasing emerging talents. The addition of the “Light and Shadow” Award, inspired by the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, adds a new dimension to this year’s festival. Participants are encouraged to creatively explore the interplay of light and shadow in their films, interpreting the theme in innovative ways.
The Beyond the Peaks Student Film Festival is open to high school students in NY, VT and QC, and participation is free. More information and submission details can be found at mountainlake.org/beyondthepeaks.
The festival will culminate in a Red Carpet Showcase in June 2024, providing finalists with the opportunity to present their films to a wider audience and celebrate their achievements in filmmaking together.
