CELLOPÉRA – an “opera centric” first album produced by Duo Cavatine , is now available !

Duo Cavatine is mostly a lengthy tale of friendship between two people who are deeply passionate about music.

Perfectly in time for Canadian Thanksgiving, their new CD CellOpéra! is available for purchase on their website after a successful launch party at Kin experience last Wednesday October 12th 2022.

One of the most well-known musical groups in North America, they are frequently featured on CBC Music, particularly on the program “In Concert”.

The Pro Musica Society, the Chapelle Historique du Bon-Pasteur, Doors Open at Southminster in Ottawa, the Belle Chapelle in Sherbrooke, the Orford Music Festival, Music Mondays in Toronto, the Heifetz International Music Institute in the United States, and the Festival del Lago in Mexico are just a few of the concert series where they also frequently appear.

🎻 NOÉMIE RAYMOND-FRISET and 🎹 MICHEL-ALEXANDRE BROEKAERT

Their chosen duo name derives from the very first piece they performed together while attending university in Montreal; Poulenc’s sonata for cello and piano.

Their recent and first self- produced CD , CellOpéra! was recorded at the Concert Hall of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal last March 28-30, 2021.

In search of fresh concepts, the duo began to investigate the possibility that the cello’s vocal tone would be an excellent fit for the operatic genre. The duo are thrilled to share their favorite arias as a combination of the operatic and instrumental worlds.

Some of the highlights on the CD include an upbeat take on GEORGE GERSHWIN (1898-1937) Porgy and Bess, Summertime and a very heartfelt rendition of ANDRÉ GAGNON (1936-2020) Nelligan, Le Vaisseau d’or.
