Customs and Border Protection is reducing the hours of several small border crossings in northern New York, including Rouses Point, Overton Corners, Chateauguay, and Trout River, beginning January 6th. The move is intended to redirect agents to busier ports of entry, but local businesses are concerned about the impact on customers and increased wait times at larger crossings. While larger ports like Massena and Champlain remain open 24 hours, 38 crossings along the northern border will see hour reductions.
