New York State is taking some new steps to better help hikers hitting the trails in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks. It’s teaming up with the Adirondack Mountain Reserve to offer reserved parking spots in the AMR parking lot off NYS Route 73 in Keene, NY to hikers looking to connect with trailheads to some of the High Peaks. The DEC is also teaming up with Essex County to expand the number of free shuttle buses to get hikers from the parking lot at Marcy Field in Keene to trailheads at Rooster Comb, Giant Mountain, and Roaring Brook Falls.
