There’s a new landmark in downtown Plattsburgh, a new mural along Bridge Street that honors 2 of the City’s most famous sisters. It’s the 26th mural from Outside Art Plattsburgh Public Art Project, an organization dedicated to beautifying public spaces with local outdoor art. Located at 63 Bridge Street, the Poets’ Mural overlooks the east bank of the Saranac River. It celebrates the lives of Plattsburgh poets, sisters Lucretia and Margaret Davidson.
Artist Brendon Palmer-Angell designed and painted the mural alongside Outside Art Co-Director Amy Guglielmo. The Davidson sisters were gifted and prolific poets, who sadly, both died from Tuberculosis as teenagers. In the two centuries after their deaths, their poetry has gained national and world recognition.
