New COVID Restrictions

As we head into 2022, there are growing concerns over the surge in the number of COVID cases on both sides of the border. Montreal recently declared a state of emergency as COVID cases in Quebec hit their highest single-day number since the start of the pandemic. It comes after the province announced new restrictions due to COVID. Quebec is closing bars, cinemas, gyms, and spas because of the record number of coronavirus cases. Sporting events will be closed to spectators and restaurants are having to close by 10 pm. As of two weeks ago, all Canadians crossing the border to visit the United States, even for short trips, must once again show a negative COVID test to be allowed back into Canada. In New York State, County Health Departments in Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties have all declared States of Emergency, and called on the State of New York to help offer vaccinations and testing sites. The State set-up a pop-up vaccination site this week at Clinton Community College and has opened a testing site in Malone.
