Last night, the anticipation was palpable as Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT), with its 28 virtuoso dancers, graced the stage of Montreal’s Théâtre Maisonneuve / Place des Arts. The show was presented by Danse Danse and will run from March 20th to the 23rd, 2024.
This eagerly awaited show was presented in a triple bill format showcasing the unparalleled talent and innovation that NDT is renowned for.
Audiences were treated to performances spanning across various styles and visions of contemporary dance.
The centerpiece of the evening was William Forsythe’s “One Flat Thing,” a mesmerizing piece renowned for its intricate choreography with table props that pushed the boundaries of physicality and spatial awareness.
Dancers, leaped, climbed, crawled and pounced from one tabletop onto another, enthralling the audience by the precision and agility of their steps as they navigated the complex interplay of movement and structure.
Adding to the excitement, NDT’s associate artists Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar unveiled their latest creation, “Jakie.” Known for their daring and unconventional approach to choreography, Eyal and Behar delivered a high-energy performance that transported spectators into a world of mesmerizing jittery rhythms, stirring music and captivating visuals brought to life by their nude, one-piece body-clad dancers.
Completing the triple bill and first on the program was “The Point Being,” a collaborative work by the talented van Opstal siblings, Imre and Marne.
This multidisciplinary masterpiece seamlessly integrated choreography, set design, and music to explore the concept of synchronicity, offering audiences a truly immersive and thought-provoking experience.

Under the artistic direction of Canadian Emily Molnar, NDT remains committed to pushing the boundaries of body expression and captivating audiences worldwide.
