Penguins are flightless aquatic birds living mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. They have adaptations that allow them to survive in some of the Earth’s most extreme water and land environments. In this video from NATURE’s Penguins: Meet the Family you will meet one of the 18 species of the penguin family, the emperor penguin. Learn about the unique characteristics that have allowed these birds to live in extreme environments and see how scientists use technology to help monitor emperor penguin colonies. Support materials include a mapping activity based on the scientific data featured in the episode.
