CHOIR BOY
This moving coming -of -age musical, written by Tarell Alvin McCraney, the 2017 Oscar-winning writer of “Moonlight”, directed by Mike Payette – is currently running at the Montreal Centaur Theatre until October 28th.
Steven Charles stars as angelic voice, openly gay choir boy Pharus, who dreams of taking his rightful place as choirmaster for the Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys: a high school dedicated to the formation of strong, ethical Black men.
Emotions run high as we experience the beauty of harmonious Gospel and R&B music (arranged by musical director Floydd Ricketts), that contrasts sharply with the shower of verbal and emotional abuse that Pharus has to endure from fellow students.
Will the school have the courage to accept a gay choirmaster or will his voice be silenced forever?
The musical is a moving portrait of Black adolescents trying to fray a path towards their dreams while navigating the difficult transition to adulthood.

Director Gabriel Plante decontextualizes and revisits Corneille’s classic 17th century play LE CID: a story of present-day intransigent overlords – that hold the reigns over economic structures that control society.
The play reflects a form of modern-day serfdom in which our contemporary “peasant” life is constantly manipulated by those in power.

Colin Devlin album launch with Gianni Bodo
This Thursday October 18th, get ready to enjoy a musical show by critically acclaimed, Grammy nominated, Irish rock legend Colin Devin (The Devlins) who will be launching his new album High Point at O PAtro Vys . The new album was produced and partly co-written by Montreal’s very own iconic producer Pierre Marchand!
Italian singer, composer and local rock star Gianni Bodo, who recently performed at the Festival de la Republica in front of 8000 people at Place Bell in Laval, will also be performing excerpts of his up-coming album.

Affectionately called “Robert” by owner and French creator Cédric Moindrot, you can now ask him in French and English to serve you a chilled champagne or a good ol’ fashion while doing a little dance or song number or two… (If Robert takes a liking to you, you might receive special attention with blown kisses or even good life tips! ).
Having a specialty cocktail served by a humanoid robot is definitely a curiosity and a perfect way to enjoy a drink, however your journey of discovery will certainly continue at the upstairs restaurant where each served platter is a veritable delight for the eyes and the palette!
Expect classic French cuisine with a twist conceived by ex Manoir Hovey chef Joris Larigaldie.
From succulent starters such as Lobster cooked in beurre blanc with beetroot and wild roses to the eye catching main courses such as the Venison Art platter that pays homage to the Montreal Automatist movement, with its squeezable paint-tube blueberry sauces (featured below), you are sure to have a wonderful and most inspirational evening.
