The words “Welcome to Plattsburgh: The Lake City” appear on the latest mural to decorate a wall in the city. Work began June 19th on the 18th mural from Outside Art Plattsburgh Public Art Project, an organization dedicated to decorating public spaces with large-scale works of art, and at 36 hundred square feet, this is the largest work of art the group has tackled yet.

Located at 103 Margaret Street, on the wall of a building housing Aleka’s Restaurant and several apartment units, artists planned this piece to serve as a gateway to downtown Plattsburgh. Local artists Andrew McGill and Giovanina Bucci designed this mural, along with Outside Art Co-Director Amy Guglielmo.

The mural will receive its official dedication during the Lake City Arts Fest, late in August.
