Mountain Lake PBS Move-a-thon!

We were so excited to see so many people out there for the Mountain Lake PBS Move-a-thon!

Thanks for participating, and for supporting YOUR local station!

Thanks to our sponsors!

Get moving however you like, wherever you like, and raise funds for YOUR station, Mountain Lake PBS!

We provide essential services to this community, and we rely on YOUR support to continue our work. The Move-a-thon is the perfect way to get moving, maintain social distance, and show your support for the station that’s here for you in good times, and in not-so-good times.

When schools and businesses closed this spring, Mountain Lake PBS shifted resources and priorities to meet our community’s needs: more news updates, a new daily broadcast schedule for students and educators Learning at Home, and increased educational outreach to serve this region’s families online. While the station remained open in order to provide essential services to the community, we felt the impact and had to cancel three major fundraising events.

In these extraordinary times, we go out of our way to support each other, and we are all stronger for it!

How To Join In

  1. Pick your movement – walk, jog, hike, kayak, swim, bike, skateboard, roller skate, hula hoop… whatever you like best!
  2. Collect pledges from friends and family to support you in your Move-a-thon (here’s a pledge tracking sheet), or make your own pledge of support. Pledges are due August 3 to receive your t-shirt.
  3. Get moving August 15-18 – don’t forget to wear your t-shirt – and send in selfies, pictures and videos!

All participants will receive a Mountain Lake PBS Move-a-thon t-shirt! We’ll also add your name (or business name), selfies and videos of your very own move-a-thon to our participant roll on-air and online!

[accordion-item title=”Why is Mountain Lake PBS hosting a Move-a-thon?“]

We’ve been sheltering at home for so long – we want to get moving! When the pandemic hit, Mountain Lake PBS shifted resources and priorities to support the community. We produced daily news updates, we changed our broadcast schedule to support students and educators Learning at Home, and we substantially increased our online educational outreach to serve this region’s families. At the same time, we were forced to cancel three major fundraising events, and have seen decreased support from local businesses who are struggling too. We provide essential services to this community in good times, and not-so-good times. We rely on YOUR support to continue our work. This fundraiser is a fun way for us to get moving and for our community to get involved while we maintain social distance.  In these extraordinary times we go out of our way to support each other, and we are all stronger for it.
