Just in time for Mother’s Day and summer reading, author Elisabeth Sharp McKetta discusses her mythological story of a mother and daughter’s journey through healing and forgivenessShe Never Told me About the Ocean (2021, Paul Dry Books). Set on a lush island where magic and myth permeate the atmosphere from an ocean breeze, an 18-year-old discovers the darkest, deadliest depths of the sea as she struggles to swim toward the light.

McKetta teaches writing for Harvard University and The University of Oxford. She has written books on poetry, writing and a biography of her grandfather, Professor Emeritus John McKetta.
