Montreal’s Dîner en Blanc Turns 15: A Night of Blooming Elegance, Fashion, and Mystery

Few traditions capture Montreal’s flair for art, cuisine, and spectacle quite like Dîner en Blanc. This year, the world’s most glamorous secret dinner marks its 15th anniversary on Friday, September 5, with an edition that promises to be breathtaking and unforgettable.

The theme “Elegance in Bloom / L’élégance en fleurs” will transform an iconic Montreal site revealed to participants only at the last minute into a living tableau where fashion, gastronomy, music, and creativity collide.

More than 2,500 guests dressed entirely in white will gather, each contributing to the ephemeral work of art that has defined this global phenomenon since its Parisian beginnings.

Fashion & Signature Creations

This year’s muse is none other than fashion journalist Lolitta Dandoy, who embodies the floral theme in a spectacular creation designed by internationally acclaimed hair artist Stéphane Scotto Di Cesare, known for his collaborations with Cirque du Soleil, Moment Factory, and Toronto Fashion Week.

Scotto Di Cesare brings his bold artistry to Dîner en Blanc Montréal, merging haute couture with living sculpture.

I’m thrilled to return for a second year,” says Dandoy. “For me, DEB is a must-attend event for anyone who loves gastronomy, fashion and those magical moments that remind us how lucky we are to live in Montreal!”

Her look also launches this year’s Floral Crown competition, encouraging guests to push their creative boundaries with stunning botanical headpieces.

SPECIAL INTERVIEW with Lolitta Dandoy

“This year’s theme, Elegance in Bloom, celebrates fashion, flowers, and creativity—how do you personally interpret this theme, and how does it inspire your own look for the evening?”

I’m the biggest fan of flowers! I mean… my wedding dress was all made of flowers! To me, this is not only the most inspiring theme, but also pretty easy to interpret because flowers are so present in fashion! I haven’t taken my final decision yet, but I’m either going to wear a dress with textured petals or all out with my hair and makeup + blooming accessories (I’m talking jewelry, crown, shoes and bag)… and a more minimalist dress!

“Dîner en Blanc is more than just a dinner: it’s a living artwork. From your perspective as a fashion journalist, what makes this anniversary edition stand out from past years?”

I have attended many editions of Diner en Blanc and the event is always special, but this year, what stands out to me is the organization & artistic direction! We could feel the « renouveau » of the event last year and this edition will be even better! I also love that the theme is now global (and applied to all the DEB around the world) and that there’s a contest for the best crown… with an amazing prize worth 2000$! So make sure you enter it!

“Guests always surprise us with breathtaking style and table décor. What advice would you give participants who want to capture the spirit of Blooming Elegance while still making their mark?”

I would definitely say to inject your personality into the decor. Whether you come as a duo or with a group of friends, I think it’s best to have an ensemble direction, then ask each guest to bring a little something that they find beautiful. Needless to say that this also applies to style! I love when we can tell that people are together, but still have their individual flair!

Thanks to Mrs Dandoy for her time.

Culinary Delights

Chef Laurent Godbout,

On the dining front, two of Montreal’s finest chefs bring their visions to the table. Laurent Godbout, founder of Chez L’Épicier and former Canadian representative at the Bocuse d’Or, will offer refined, festive baskets. Meanwhile, Christian Ventura, a pioneer of vegan cuisine with acclaimed restaurants such as Sushi Momo and Casa Kaizen, presents two plant-based menus titled Éveil Végétal (vegan) and Ligne Blanche (vegan and gluten-free).

** Guests can reserve their meal baskets online.

Adding to the indulgence, Chambord, the royal raspberry liqueur, joins the festivities for the first time. Guests can sip on creations such as the Chambord Kir Royal, the Chambord Spritz, or a sparkling Lemon Spritz, each accented with edible flowers as a gourmet nod to the theme of blooming elegance.

Music & Entertainment

DJ Ève Salvail,

For the first time, the decks will be commanded by a woman. DJ Ève Salvail, a Quebec-born international star who has performed for Chanel, Netflix, and Maserati, will bring her electrifying yet refined style to the celebration.

Throughout the evening, live performances will heighten the dreamlike atmosphere. Violinist Nathan Mignien will accompany guests upon arrival and offer duets with DJ Salvail later in the night. An aerial act featuring Sway Pole will add a touch of magic, while strolling characters in sumptuous costumes will weave poetry into the crowd. Actor Guillaume Borys will serve as master of ceremonies, guiding guests through the traditions that make the event so distinctive.

Artistic Flourishes

Montreal florist Charlotte Lefebvre will enchant with sculptural installations, including flower-draped swings and a whimsical photo booth. The Alqamüv collective brings a geometry-inspired artistic activation, while Glitter Bar artists will add shimmer with golden body art. A special oyster collaboration with chef Jason Nagy returns, along with a chance to win a 100-oyster feast.

The Rules of the White Table

As always, Dîner en Blanc thrives on its traditions. Guests must arrive in all-white attire, bring their own tables, chairs, and tableware, and leave the venue spotless at the end of the evening. While attendees can prepare their own gourmet picnics, those seeking a curated experience may reserve chef-prepared baskets when registering.

A Dinner party with multiple surprises !

For Sandy Safi, Montreal director of Dîner en Blanc and co-owner of its international brand, the night is about more than elegance. “The location is sublime,” she teases. “Guests will be transported to a world of beauty and emotion without ever boarding a plane.”

Since its arrival in Montreal in 2009, Dîner en Blanc has grown into a worldwide movement, with editions in over 120 cities across 40 countries. Yet, for many, Montreal remains the heart of the experience, a city where mystery, creativity, and joie de vivre converge.

Those wishing to take part in this year’s celebration can register online at montreal.dinerenblanc.com.

After 15 years, the message remains the same. When thousands gather in white to share food, art, and laughter under the stars, what emerges is a fleeting masterpiece.
