The powerhouse blues is back in Montreal and fans are in for a memorable night as Matt Andersen returns to the city with special guest Mariel Buckley. Blending pop folk and blues, this cabaret style concert promises warmth, soul and moments that will fill you heart !

When Matt Andersen steps on stage, he brings a lifetime of music with him. His latest album, The Hammer and The Rose, reveals a softer and deeply heartfelt side of the New Brunswick born songwriter. The record unfolds like a carefully tended garden, filled with tender folk melodies and stirring soul songs that reflect on love, resilience and the things that truly matter.

Renowned for his powerful voice and magnetic presence, Andersen has spent decades performing everywhere from intimate clubs to grand theatres around the world. Whether the moment calls for quiet intensity or wall shaking blues, his live performances are always deeply moving. That same dedication to craft has defined his studio work, earning him more than 33 million streams on Spotify and over 30 million views on YouTube.

A familiar and much loved figure in Montréal, Andersen has headlined major festivals, clubs and theatres across North America, Europe and Australia. Along the way, he has shared the stage with artists such as Marcus King, Beth Hart, Marty Stuart, Greg Allman, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Randy Bachman and Serena Ryder. His career is marked by numerous accolades, including multiple Maple Blues Awards, European Blues Awards and a historic win at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

Mariel Buckley

Opening the evening is Mariel Buckley, one of Canada’s most compelling voices in modern Americana. Hailing from Calgary, Buckley has carved out her own space with a distinctive alt folk sound driven by raw emotion and sharp storytelling. Her third studio album, Strange Trip Ahead, recorded in Nashville with producer Jarrad K, explores vulnerability and uncertainty in life, love and career with honesty and grace.

Buckley’s earlier albums, Everywhere I Used To Be and Driving In the Dark, earned critical praise and major recognition, including a Polaris Music Prize nomination. As her audience continues to grow across Canada, the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom, she has shared stages with artists such as John Moreland, Orville Peck, k d lang and The Bros Landreth.

This event will be presented in a seated cabaret format, creating an intimate atmosphere that perfectly suits the emotional depth of both artists.
