A Northern New York business has reopened, and its 30 workers are back on the job, after a devastating fire. Martin’s Pretzels had just moved its operations to a new bakery in Moira, New York when a fire in December of 2020 forced them to close for nearly a year. The business, which sells its handmade pretzels at markets in New York City, and around the world, reopened in November. We talk with the company’s co-owner, 20-year-old Josiah Martin, about buying the company from his grandfather and carrying on the tradition of making handmade pretzels.
