There’s frustration over how Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York State is deciding what businesses can reopen from the COVID shutdown. Are the local shops and hundreds of employees who work inside the Champlain Centre Mall in Plattsburgh, and other malls across New York, being unfairly punished? Malls, gyms, and movie theaters have not been allowed to reopen under PHASE 4. The Governor says the State Health Department is looking into whether special filters, capable of stopping the spread of the coronavirus, should be required for the air-filtration systems in malls. This week, local businesses and community leaders called on the governor to set guidelines and a target date for malls to reopen.
