The much awaited winter break is finally here : Two weeks to fill with family friendly activities and good cheer!
This Holiday season, grab your family and get ready to explore a luminous and idyllic environment at – Alight At Night – one of Ontario’s largest outdoor light festivals:
Alight at Night is an annual happening that has returned to Upper Canada Village – situated in Morrisburg, Ontario that boasts over a million dazzling lights that are carefully mounted on all of the village’s historical buildings, that are sure to enchant both young and old!
Founded in 1961, Upper Canada Village is one of the largest living-history sites in Canada. Touring Upper Canada Village is a magical experience, transporting you back in time to the 1860s. A key part of the experience is the authentic buildings that make up the village, the activities that they each housed, and of course, the people who lived there.
During winter, the sprawling site completely transforms into a magical village where all of the forty historical structures, trees and fences are covered in more than one million lights: thus creating a truly spectacular setting.
The activity is a self-guided and family friendly walking tour of the numerous buildings that hold special activities like fresh bread baking in a wood-fired oven and old- fashioned caroling in the Christ Church as seen below:
The appearance of a Victorian – style Saint Nick at the Village is a truly magical moment to experience !
This year, Santa will be busy in his winter workshop preparing for Christmas until December 23rd from 5pm-9pm on a nightly basis during #AlightAtNight.
