Alcoa announces it will keep hundreds of jobs in the North Country, agreeing to a new deal with the state for cheap power. The agreement with the New York State Power Authority will provide Alcoa with low-cost electricity, and in exchange, the company will keep 600 workers on the payroll for the next 7-years at its aluminum smelting plant in Massena, NY, through 2026. We talk with employees, Alcoa’s plant manager, the head of the local union, and community members about the impact the deal will have on the plant, its workers, and the community.
