The “Curbside at Harborside” concert-series presents its fifth live event Saturday, August 1.
A tradition-based songsmith, Dan Berggren writes with honesty, humor and a strong sense of place. His songs explore the many dimensions of home, hard-working folks, taking care of our planet and each other.
While his roots are firmly in the Adirondacks where he was raised, Dan’s music has branched out across many borders. The award-winning educator and musician has entertained audiences from Kentucky to Michigan, Belgium to Bulgaria, and Zimbabwe to Transylvania.
He’ll sing of Adirondack life and values much closer to home this Saturday, with a live concert in the North Country.

Enjoy Berggren’s interview with Spotlight producer Paul Larson, a conversation from earlier this summer.
Each Saturday evening through early September, musicians are performing on the stage of the city’s portable bandshell, stationed in the parking lot near Dock Street, close to the Plattsburgh City Marina.
Tickets are available (cash only) on the evening of each performance at the Harborside Lot entrance. Vehicles will be parked first-come, first-served by the volunteer parking attendants on site. All attendees must bring with them a face mask to wear whenever they exit their vehicles. No alcohol and no pets will be allowed on site. Refreshments will be available for sale before and during the concerts.

It was a family trip to a drive-in movie theatre in Colchester, Vermont, that inspired Plattsburgh native Benjamin Pomerance to send an email to Plattsburgh Mayor Colin Read asking about introducing a similar concept for concerts to bring live music back to the area.
A grassroots community effort arose from there, with Mayor Read and Pomerance joining forces with area arts leaders such as Artistry Community Theatre President Derrick A. Hopkins, Plattsburgh Blues and Jazz Producer Laura Carbone, and audio engineer Russell Feher to bring this idea to fruition.
