About the Film
When Texas lawmakers moved to review library collections, librarians across the country found themselves at the center of a national battle. The Librarians follows real librarians fighting back against restrictions on race-related and LGBTQIA+ content — and explores what’s at stake for education and public life.
Community Conversation
After the screening, a live panel discussion will dig into the issues raised in the film. Panelists (in Plattsburgh) include library directors, educators, and community advocates from across the North Country:
- Ben Carman, Plattsburgh Public Library
- Sarah Jennette, Clinton Community College
- Tasha Nadge, Plattsburgh High School
- Suzanne Orlando, Adirondack Correctional Facility / Tupper Lake Goff-Nelson Memorial Library
- JJ Murnane, Show Up Community Activism Group
Emceed by Sarah Spanburgh, Plattsburgh Public Library.
