What’s the one object you’d never part with?
I often ask myself this question: what small, perhaps silly, thing do I treasure so much that I could never let it go?
Maybe it’s a chipped coffee mug, a concert ticket stub, or a sweater that still smells like someone I love. These seemingly ordinary objects somehow carry the weight of our memories, our griefs, and our joys.

That question sits right at the heart of Big Stuff, an exciting new production coming to the Segal Centre that is equal parts hilarious and heartfelt.
Created by acclaimed comedy duo and real-life couple Matt Baram and Naomi Snieckus, alongside celebrated director Kat Sandler, Big Stuff is a smart, autobiographical comedy about what we choose to keep, what we are forced to let go, and how the mess of it all shapes us.

The story follows a couple sorting through a lifetime of belongings and emotional baggage, blending laugh out loud moments with tender reflections on love, loss, and everything in between.
What struck me most when watching this show, is how universal it felt. We have all faced those boxes in the basement or closets filled with memories we cannot quite bring ourselves to toss. The play takes that experience and transforms it into something theatrical, funny, and profoundly moving.
It is not just about stuff, it is about the stories we attach to that stuff, and how those stories make us who we are.

After earning rave reviews and standing ovations in earlier runs, Big Stuff now makes its Montreal debut at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts.
The show is funny, intimate, and deeply relatable, perfect for anyone navigating life’s big transitions and the small messes that come with them.
As I think again about the little things I keep tucked away in drawers and boxes, I cannot help but feel excited to see how Big Stuff brings that emotional tug of war to the stage.
It is a reminder that sometimes the biggest feelings hide inside the smallest things.
