Lake Placid Named Backup Venue for 2026 Winter Olympics

Mount Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid is set to serve as a backup sliding venue for the 2026 Winter Olympics if Italy’s track for the Milano-Cortina Games isn’t ready by March. Plans include flying athletes into Plattsburgh, housing them at Paul Smith’s College, and hosting medal ceremonies at Rockefeller Center in NYC. Events would include bobsled, skeleton, and luge competitions.
