Assemblyman Billy Jones and some other community leaders from the North Country puckered up and kissed a cow at the Miner Farm in Chazy, NY recently to help raise money for the United Way of the Adirondack Region. They all planted a kiss on Sparta, a 2-year-old Holstein.
The $15-thousand dollars they collected at this year’s “Kiss the Cow” event will help fund homelessness prevention services that the United Way coordinates with its partner agencies in Clinton, Essex and Franklin Counties. While the United Way helps families facing homelessness, they are also working with lawmakers on finding long-term solutions to the need for housing.
The United Way also used the event to announce its annual fundraising campaign for 2024 exceeded its goal raising $670-thousand dollars.
