It’s the Giving Season, and this week we’re sharing stories of acts of kindness, including a young woman from the North Country who is hoping to donate one of her kidneys to a man she never met before, a complete stranger, whose plea for help caught her attention on Facebook. Nick LaValley from Mooers, New York needs a kidney. Sara Laundry from Plattsburgh saw his Facebook post, and responded. After going through tests at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, it looked promising. Sadly though, this week, there was a major set-back. The hospital has put off the surgery, or any more tests, for at least a year. Sara says she is heartbroken. She had hoped she could be the miracle that Nick needed. Unless another donor comes forward, they’ll have to wait at least a year to see if Sara can still be the kidney donor that Nick so desperately needs.
